PH Embassy in Iran Celebrates 121st PH Independence Day

TEHRAN 20 June 2019 — The Philippine Embassy in Tehran hosted a banquet for Iranian government officials, and special guests, to celebrate the 121st Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence at Hotel Niloo on 14 June 2019.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador to Iran Wilfredo C. Santos paid tribute to the early generations of Filipinos who stood up to oppose the oppression of foreigners. He outlined today's modern forms of oppression that must continue to fight, such as cruelty of poverty, unfair level of livelihood, illegal drugs, execution of faith, and so forth.
Ambassador Santos describes President Rodrigo Duterte's ongoing principles about the promotion of "independent foreign policy" in which the Philippines builds mutually beneficial partnerships and relationships with different countries, aiming to uphold the welfare of the Philippines amidst the uneven views of neighboring countries.
The Embassy also expressed the cooperation and cooperation of Iran and the Philippines in the fields of science and technology, as well as in the national defense, which was highlighted by the visit of the top Philippine ophthalms in the first and second quarters of the current year.
In honor of the guest speaker from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chief Director Ali Asghar Mohammadi mentioned Iran's appreciation of its relationship with the Philippines and praised the service and efforts of Ambassador Santos to develop and improve relations between Philippines and Iran. END
