Filipinos in Jakarta commemorate PH Independence Day

JAKARTA 22 June 2019 - The Philippine Embassy in Jakarta, the Philippine Permanent Mission to ASEAN, and members and friends of the Filipino community in Indonesia commemorated the 121st Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence at the Embassy premises on 12 June 2019.
Around 150 Filipinos participated in the event. In line with the theme of “Kalayaan 2019: Courage of the Nation, Compassion for the People (Tapang ng Bayan, Malasakit sa Mamamayan)”, Ambassador to Indonesia Leehiong T. Wee read the Independence Day Message of President Rodrigo Duterte while Philippine Permanent Representative to ASEAN Noel Eugene Eusebio M. Servigon delivered the Independence Day Message of Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin, Jr., and Philippine Defense Attache to Indonesia Captain Zosimo Bolanos conveyed the message of Defense Secretary Delfin N. Lorenzana.
Ambassador Wee presented Certificates of Appreciation to former Philippine Honorary Consular Officer Eddy Surohadi, Bella Luzano, Betty Abalos, Antonio Capati, Cesar dela Cruz, and Stella Arungayan, for their respective contributions and support for the Embassy’s programs and activities.
The Independence Day activities concluded with a modest Filipino breakfast gathering. END
