PH Embassy Hosts Salo-Salo for Filipino Community in Belgium, Luxembourg

BRUSSELS 04 July 2019 — The Philippine Embassy in Brussels hosted a garden salo-salo for the Filipino community leaders in Belgium and Luxembourg to celebrate the 121st Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence on 22 June 2019.
To help set the Filipino fiesta atmosphere, the Embassy garden was decorated with colorful banderitas. Guests, arriving in their Filipiniana attire, were treated to a brunch of Filipino favourites such as tocino, longanisa, beef tapa, ensaladang mangga with bagoong, and leche flan.
The A Cappella Manila chorale, who were in Brussels as part of their European tour, entertained the audience with their renditions of Original Pilipino Music (OPM) love songs.
Ambassador to Belgium Eduardo José A. de Vega gave his welcome remarks and read the Independence Day message of President Rodrigo Duterte. He thanked the community leaders for the success of the Philippine Independence Day celebration organized by the Filipino community in Deinze on 09 June 2019.
Ambassador de Vega also took the opportunity to express the Embassy’s heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the Filipino community for their continued support for the Embassy’s various programs and initiatives. END
