BERGEN 08 July 2019 – Music runs through the veins of Filipinos.
This was proudly showcased in the mini afternoon concert staged by the Filipino community in Bergen in celebration of the 121st Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence, held at RICKS, a leading entertainment venue in Bergen on 08 June 2019.
On its 7th European Goodwill Concert dubbed “Makipagawit sa A Cappella Manila”, the famous vocal ensemble provided the highlight of the celebration with its unique rendition of Filipino folksongs and pop songs. In addition, Filipino singers based in Bergen either sang with A Capella Manila or electrified the stage with their own renditions of favorite Filipino songs and dances.
Gracing the celebration was Bergen Deputy Mayor Marita Multo, who has been very supportive of the welfare and activities of the Filipino community. The Philippine Embassy in Oslo was represented by Deputy Head of Mission and Consul General Maria Elena Algabre. The two officials became acquainted with each other in a previous Filipino community event in Bergen.
In her remarks, Deputy Head of Mission and Consul General Algabre recognized the collaboration of different Filipino community organizations to make the celebration a success, namely Jesus is Lord, Caritas Bergen, Our Lady of Fatima, Hawak Kamay Bergen, Euro Asian Dance Group, Fil-Nor Business Council and Event Expert, plus other smaller organizations.
After the mini afternoon concert, Jesus is Lord hosted a sumptuous dinner for A Cappella Manila and other guests. END
