PHL Consulate General in Milan Observes 121st Rizal Day with Members of the Filipino Community
03 January 2018 MILAN — The Philippine Consulate General in Milan commemorated the 121ST Rizal Day with a program at the Philippine Chancery at Via Stromboli 1 with members of the Filipino community in Milan and Northern Italy on 29 December 2017.
The event, led by Consul General Marichu Mauro with the personnel of Milan PCG, started with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem.
In her message, Consul General Mauro revisited the standards set by Dr. Jose P. Rizal for love and service for the Philippines and the Filipino nation. She underscored that like most Filipinos abroad, Rizal himself was also an overseas Filipino worker. Consul General Mauro concluded her message by encouraging the members of the Filipino community to keep the spirit and values of our national hero alive in their day-to-day life in and outside of the Philippines.
Consul General Mauro laid a bouquet of flowers at the bronze bust of Dr. Jose Rizal. The bust, provided by the Philippine National Commission on Culture and the Arts, is part of the Sentro Rizal Milan, which was launched in November 2016.
The observance was also highlighted by the showing of the film “Jose Rizal” at the public area of Milan PCG after the official program. END
