PHL Embassy in Kuwait Commemorates 121st Death Anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal
CDA Charleson C. Hermosura delivering his message
05 January 2018 KUWAIT — The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait commemorated the 121st Death Anniversary of Dr. Jose Protacio Rizal at the Chancery on 30 December 2017.
In his message, CDA Hermosura highlighted three important factors in commemorating the Philippine National Hero’s day – love for family, love for fellowmen and love for God and our country. He emphasized that the love we give to and receive from our families help us to be a better person in our community. Being in the Foreign Service is also a great opportunity for each and every one in the Embassy to serve our fellowmen, especially those who are in dire need. It was emphasized that respect for superiors and colleagues is important. Lastly, a key message was that love for God implies love for country and, thus, striving to do what’s best for one’s country. All these three factors have been described in the literary works of Dr. Rizal such as the poem Adios Patria Adorada and his novels El Filibusterismo and Noli Me Tangere. “Today is Dr. Jose Rizal’s Day. So let us commemorate and honor him because he was the reason why we became an independent nation,” concluded CDA Hermosura.
Little Mr. Stephan Nereus Carlos A. Hermosura, recited the poem “Sa Aking Mga Kababata” by the young Jose Rizal to the delight of the listeners.
The program was attended by the officers and staff of the Embassy along with its partner agencies, the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO), the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the Pag-Ibig Fund, and the Social Security System (SSS). The simple event was hosted by Ms. Maria Alethea R. Nabo, Cultural Officer and Attaché. END
