PHL Embassy in Yangon Celebrates National Women’s Month

26 March 2018 YANGON – The Philippine Embassy in Yangon, Myanmar in cooperation with the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) organized a film showing and photo exhibit on Saturday, 24 March 2018 at the Sule Shangri-La Hotel in Yangon with the theme Women Make Change: A Celebration of the Different Faces of Philippine Women to celebrate National Women’s Month.
Philippine Ambassador to Myanmar Eduardo E. Kapunan, Jr, in his welcome remarks, reminded the Filipino men and women that women play an integral part in society. He stated that women today are no longer confined to child-bearing and taking care of household chores. He also emphasized that women are capable of achieving much more and can make many significant changes in various sectors of society.
The event “Women Make Change: A Celebration of the Different Faces of Philippine Women” was composed of a Photo Exhibit featuring women who were the first in traditionally-male fields, and two featured films from the FDCP – Ano Ang Kulay Ng Mga Nakalimutang Pangarap directed by Jose Javier Reyes and Sonata directed by Peque Gallaga and Lore Reyes.
