PH Consul General to Chicago, Congressman Krishnamoorthi Discuss PH-US Ties

24 April 2017 CHICAGO, IL — Consul General Generoso D.G. Calonge called on Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi at his district office in the Village of Schaumburg on April 21 to personally congratulate him on his election into the U.S. Congress representing the 8th congressional district of Illinois.

The two officials discussed the status of the 70-year-old US-Philippines diplomatic relations. They also agreed on the importance of role of the Filipino-American community in expanding people-to-people ties to promote mutually beneficial commercial and investment relations.

There are around 14,000 Filipino-Americans living in the 8th congressional district, according to the 2010 US Census Survey.  The 8th congressional district includes Carol Stream, Elgin, Glendale Heights, Hanover Park, Hoffman Estates, Schaumburg and Streamwood, among other towns.

Consul General Calonge, also invited the lawmaker to join the bipartisan US-Philippines Friendship Caucus, which will be re-launched in the 115th U.S. Congress. END
