JERUSALEM 30 October 2020 – In his last official act as the top Philippine envoy to Israel Philippine Ambassador Nathaniel “Neal” G. Imperial paid a farewell call on Israeli President Reuven “Ruvi” Rivlin at the latter’s office in Jerusalem on 27 October 2020.
The ambassador, who had been one of the first foreign envoys to be received by President Rivlin after he was elected in 2014, expressed his appreciation to the president for making time for his farewell call.
Ambassador Imperial took the opportunity to personally convey his thanks to President Rivlin for Israel’s efforts to assist foreign workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly Filipino caregivers. He also relayed the Philippines’ appreciation for Israel’s donation of 10,000 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test kits for front-liners, which he shared had arrived in the Philippines on 16 October.
President Rivlin warmly recalled highlights of Philippine-Israel relations that had taken place during the ambassador’s tour of duty, particularly the historic visit of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte to Israel in September 2018. Ambassador Imperial expressed his hope that President Rivlin would be able to reciprocate President Duterte’s visit and conduct a landmark visit to the Philippines. END
