Investing on our Future: “KAPIT KA” Training for Filipinos in Cambodia

PHNOM PENH 02 November 2020 – The Philippine Embassy in Phnom Penh, in cooperation with the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO), organized a financial literacy training entitled “Kaalamang Pinansyal Tungo sa Kaunlaran (KAPIT KA): Training for Overseas Filipinos in Cambodia” during four Saturdays of October via Zoom.
Led by Commission on Filipinos Overseas’ (CFO) Chief Administrative Officer Director Mario Garcia, the CFO team discussed for two Saturday sessions (03 and 10 October) financial planning, budgeting, and saving, while the other two sessions (17 and 31 October) were allotted to discuss starting a small business, investing in bonds and stocks, and franchising. The fourth session also detailed presentations by CFO on the participants’ business proposals, including a fish farm, water refilling station, carinderia, and a laundry shop.
In her closing remarks, Vice Consul Frances Cleofas expressed the Philippine Embassy’s hope that the training imparted crucial knowledge and skills to the participants with regard to managing their finances and preparing for a comfortable retirement or when they return to the Philippines. The activity was conducted as part of the Embassy’s Gender and Development program. END
