LISBON 12 November 2020 – Philippine Ambassador to Portugal Celia Anna M. Feria visited the headquarters of the Associação Portuguese de Apoio à Vitima (APAV) in Lisbon, Portugal and met with its President, Dr. João Lazaro, on 11 November 2020.

Ambassador Feria, on behalf of the Philippine Embassy officers and staff, extended her appreciation to APAV for recently assisting a Filipino family, who were victims of abuse. APAV is a non-profit and voluntary organization that networks with public and other private institutions to help find and provide temporary shelter, food, legal and security protection to victims of criminal offenses. 

During the visit, the APAV President gave Ambassador Feria a quick tour of their head office located in Lisbon and also provided updates on the ongoing programs and projects of APAV.  Ambassador Feria took the opportunity to convey to APAV the current situation of the Filipino community in Portugal and how the Philippine Embassy continues to conduct various Gender and Development (GAD) programs to protect and enhance the welfare and potential of each Filipino in Portugal.  

The Ambassador also expressed the assurances of the Embassy in cooperating with APAV in promoting and advancing programs and projects that will further support victims of crime and violence not only in providing emergency assistance but also in providing support towards their recovery and rebuilding their lives.
