PH Embassy in Madrid Registers its 600th Overseas Voter in Spain since the Lifting of COVID-19 Lockdown in Spain

MADRID 18 December 2020 — The Philippine Embassy in Madrid registered its 600th overseas voter since Spain lifted the first State of Alarm on 21 June 2020 and lockdown restrictions eased in the country.

Mr. Rolando A. Licudo, a native of Rosales, Pangasinan came with an appointment to the Philippine Embassy in Madrid to register as an overseas voter. He lives in Madrid, Spain. Since December 2019, the Philippine Embassy in Spain has registered more than 1,200 Filipino new overseas voter registrants.

“From March 2020 to August 2020 we had to suspend registration activities. Now we have restarted it, but gradually, to respect social distancing measures imposed in Spain. Despite health challenges, we are pleased to note that the Embassy continues to receive and process applications and biometrics capture everyday,” Consul General Adrian Cruz remarked.

The registration period for the May 2022 national and local elections will run until Sept. 30, 2021. END
