PH Ambassador to Vietnam Presents Credentials to Vietnamese President
HANOI 25 January 2021 — Philippine Ambassador to Vietnam Meynardo LB. Montealegre presented his letter of credence as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Philippines to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on 22 January 2021 at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi. Ambassador Montealegre presented his credentials to President Nguyen Phu Trong along with the Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Spain and Iran.
Ambassador Montealegre assured President Trong of the Philippines’ commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations with Vietnam as one of the country’s strategic partners. Ambassador Montealegre also thanked the President for the assistance provided by Vietnam to the people of the Philippines during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the audience that followed the presentation, President Trong welcomed the Ambassadors and noted the positive and strong development of relations with the three countries over the past few years. He said that accepting the credentials of the three Ambassadors just a few days before the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam next week was a good sign that the event will have great success as it means better growth of Vietnam’s relationship with the Philippines, Iran and Spain.
