PH Ambassador, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Discuss Bilateral Relations

PHNOM PENH 01 March 2021 – Philippine Ambassador to Cambodia Maria Amelita C. Aquino paid a courtesy call on Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn on 23 February 2021. 

They discussed the various areas of bilateral cooperation, including on trade and investments, defense and security engagements, migration, and capacity-building.  They committed to the implementation of agreements that have been signed and the conclusion of pending agreements. They also agreed to work on the convening of the Joint Commission on Bilateral Consultations as the two countries look forward to the commemoration of the 65thanniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2022.

Ambassador Aquino noted Cambodia’s hosting of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) this year, its Chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 2022 and its hosting of the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in 2023 and conveyed the Philippines’ support and cooperation for the successful holding of these events. END
