MANAMA 5 APRIL 2021 – The spirit of bayanihan prevailed when a fellow Filipino made it home safe to the Philippines on 28 March 2021 through the help of the Philippine Embassy in Manama, in cooperation with the Passport and Residence Affairs, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Kabayan “Leticia” has been staying in the Kingdom for 33 years but has had no visa since 2003. Prior to her repatriation, she was in and out of the hospital due to several illnesses and was assisted by the Embassy for several months for her hemodialysis, through the DFA Assistance to Nationals Fund. She was housed at the Migrant Workers and Other Filipinos Resource Center (MWOFRC) under the care of OWWA-Bahrain from June 2020. Since December of 2019, friends and concerned individuals donated financial assistance for her continued medical care while she was awaiting her repatriation.
She is now under the care of a medical team provided by OWWA and has been endorsed to the DSWD for her long-term care .END
