PH ConGen to Los Angeles, Thai ConGen Further Initiatives in Partnership with ASEAN, other Asian Consular Corps in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, 10 May 2021 – Consul General Edgar B. Badajos called on Consul General Mungkorn Pratoomkaew of Thailand on 07 May 2021 where the two Consuls General agreed to continue pursuing initiatives, in partnership with ASEAN and the broader Asian consular corps, to tackle the rising cases of racially-motivated hate incidents and crimes against Asian American and Pacific Islander communities.
The two Consuls General also discussed efforts at alleviating the overwhelming demand for consular services that both Consulates are facing due to challenges brought about by pandemic-related disruptions to consular operations.
Formal relations between the Republic of the Philippines and the Kingdom of Thailand began with the signing of the Treaty of Friendship in Washington D.C. in 1949. Both countries are founding members of ASEAN or the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. END.
