ATHENS 13 October 2025 — Ambassador Giovanni E. Palec, together with the ambassadors of Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam, members of the ASEAN Committee in Athens (ACAT), witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Enterprise Greece S.A. and Hellenic-ASEAN Business Council (HABC) on 23 September 2025. The MoU aims to strengthen economic ties, enhance cooperation, and promote mutually beneficial business initiatives between Greece and ASEAN countries.
The Secretary General of International Economic Relations and Extroversion of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and President of Enterprise Greece, Mr. Dimitrios Skalkos, signed the MoU on behalf of Enterprise Greece, while Mr. Nikolaos Stassinopoulos, President of HABC, signed on behalf of the Council. Enterprise Greece serves as the official investment and trade promotion agency of Greece, operating under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. HABC, meanwhile, is a private sector initiative dedicated to fostering dialogue, sharing expertise, and exploring new opportunities for cooperation between Greece and ASEAN member states. ACAT is a strategic partner of HABC.
Mr. Skalkos underscored the significance of the MoU amid ongoing global economic uncertainty, technological transformation, and climate change. He highlighted Greece’s interest in engaging with emerging markets, prioritizing ASEAN countries, building on the April 2025 meeting between Deputy Minister Alexandra Papadopoulou and ASEAN Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn in Jakarta, as well as the recent signing of the EU-Indonesia Free Trade Agreement. Mr. Skalkos also identified seven (7) sectors with strong potential for bilateral cooperation with ASEAN: energy, ICT, logistics, shipping, tourism, creative industries, and agri-nutrition.
Mr. Stassinopoulos announced that HABC is organizing a business mission to the Philippines on 04–12 November 2025. The business mission aims to promote the Philippines as a prime investment destination and to assist Greek enterprises in exploring new markets, identifying potential buyers, agents, and partners, and fostering long-term business relationships in the Philippines.
