1 August 2013 - Boxing icon Manny Pacquiao was in Macau recently to promote his boxing match against Mexico’s Brandon Rios at the Cotai Arena of The Venetian Macao this coming November 24.
Pacquiao who also holds public office as Congressman of Sarangani met with Philippine Consulate officers in Macau led by Consul General Danilo T. Ibayan during a press conference held at The Venetian last July 21.
The boxing bout of Pacquiao and Rios in November is expected to draw large crowds of boxing fans to Macau, including high profile personalities from the Philippines and neighboring countries. The event is also expected to boost the tourism revenues of the administrative region with hotels and airlines flying to Macau expecting full booking.
The Philippine Consulate General in Macau is actively promoting Pacquiao’s fight in a bid to boost the Philippines’ image in the territory that is home to more than 17,000 Filipinos working in various sectors of Macau society. END
