08 August 2013 — The Philippine Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa, headed by Ambassador Constancio R. Vingno, Jr., reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that the Embassy commemorated the Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa with a free film showing for the Filipino community of the Brillante Mendoza film “Lola” at the Embassy on August 04.

The film, lent personally by the acclaimed director to the Embassy through the Department’s Economic Diplomacy Unit of the Office of the Undersecretary for International Economic Relations (OUIER), was about the struggles of two grandmothers to cope with a tragic event in which their respective grandsons were involved.  It starred veteran actresses Anita Linda and Rustica Carpio, supported by a talented cast.

After the film showing, the guests enjoyed a hearty merienda prepared by the Embassy.  END
