13 August 2013 - Waving Philippine flaglets, 40 pre-school children and 10 teachers, led by Director Mrs. Agnieszka Olszewska, trooped to the Philippine Embassy to experience a brief immersion on the Philippines and its culture during their visit on August 09.
The Embassy’s Cultural Officer Mr. Jose Magaso made a presentation to the kids about the Philippines, its people and its culture. Using interactive instructional tools, he also taught them some Pilipino words such as “Mabuhay,” “Magandang umaga po,” and “Salamat po,” whose English meanings and their corresponding pronunciations the kids readily learned.
The kids and the teachers likewise played Philippine traditional games such as the “pabitin” and “paluan ng palayok” (“breaking the pot”).
Before leaving the embassy, Philippine Ambassador to Poland Patricia Ann V.Paez assisted by Mr. Magaso handed the pre-school children and teachers with bags of Philippine give-aways. Each kid said “salamat po” upon receiving the bag of goodies.
Aside from Director Olszewska, the kids were accompanied by their teachers in Polish, namely, Ms. Luiza Figiel, Ms. Izabela Czuba, Ms. Ilona Zietkowska, and Ms. Agnieszka Pietrzak; as well as by their teachers in English, namely, Ms. Nadia Zawadzka, Ms. Paulina Golda, Ms. Zosia Szymczykiewicz, Ms. Ola Wasiak, and Ms. Jocelyn Gulbin.
