15 August 2013 – The Philippine booth drew crowds at the 14th Southeast Asia Food Carnival held in Macau on August 10 and 11 at the Three Lamp Circle.
The two-day festival was jointly organized by the Associacao de Mutuo Auxilio dos Moradores de Barrio San Kio, the Association of Returned Overseas Chinese in Macau, Macau Maynamar Overseas Chinese Association, Associacao de Beneficencia E Assistencia Mutua dos Moradores do Barrio Tai O, and the Macau Cambodia Overseas Chinese Friendship Association.
Hundreds of locals and expatriates attended the event to sample native delicacies and watch cultural performances prepared by the concessionaires and organizers. The Philippine food kiosk courtesy of the restaurant Umami Philippine Flavors was a crowd favorite.
Popular Filipino food items like turon, lumpia, puto, bibingka, leche flan, calamansi juice, buko juice, chicken and pork barbecue, ensaymada, and inihaw na manok were sold. This is the fifth year that Mr. Edwin Go, owner of Umami restaurant, has participated in the event. He believed that the food fest continues to be a great opportunity to promote Filipino culture to the locals of Macau. Pre-packaged Philippine-made items like sardines, macaroons, and other food products were also sold during the event. END
