21 August 2013 - Three hundred Filipino caregivers from the Ottawa Valley and Montreal descended on the official residence of the Philippine Ambassador on August 11 and were welcomed to a Filipino fiesta celebrated with music, food and games.

In cooperation with a global leader company in community-related services, Philippine Ambassador to Canada Leslie Gatan thanked the Filipino caregivers throughout Canada for their dedication and devotion to work, qualities which have endeared them to Canadian society.

It was a day well-spent as the attending caregivers enjoyed an afternoon filled with games, prizes and a Filipino fiesta buffet of lechon, pancit, lumpiang shanghai, inihaw na liempo, pritong manok, biko and samalamig.

The highlights of the day’s event were the opening song numbers from Filipino-American teen singing sensation of New Jersey, Ms. Kirby Asunto, who wowed the audience with her powerful voice as she delivered a repertoire of Filipino folk and contemporary pop songs and serenaded the crowd in a duet with Kundirana alumnus Jared Phililppe, as well as the special appearance of Philippine movie and television star, Mr. Gabby Concepcion, who sang and led the games and gamely posed for photos with and signed autographs for the caregivers.
