23 August 2013 - The Philippine Embassy in Doha, Qatar participated in the flag-raising ceremony on August 08 at the Vietnamese Embassy to commemorate ASEAN’s 46th founding anniversary.
Ambassador Crescente R. Relacion led the Philippine Embassy delegation to the event organized by the ASEAN Committee in Doha (ACD), which was formally established on 12 December 2011 by ASEAN Missions with resident embassies in Doha.
In his remarks, Vietnamese Ambassador and ACD Chairman Le Hong Phan urged ASEAN communities in Qatar “to contribute to the development of friendship and cooperation” with the Qataris. He pledged that under his watch, ACD will continue to organize activities to promote camaraderie among ASEAN communities in Qatar and between ASEAN communities and other nationalities.
Responding to a reporter’s query after the event, Ambassador Relacion expressed confidence that the ASEAN Economic Community will be realized in 2015 as planned. END
