23 August 2013 – The Philippine Embassy in Ottawa announced on August 22 the opening of two new offices in Canada’s Atlantic region, giving cognizance to its growing importance as a gateway to the global economy and home to a growing Filipino-Canadian population.
Mr. Sean Sears’ appointment as the first Philippine Honorary Consul General in Nova Scotia brings to fore his vast experience as an entrepreneur-businessman in Nova Scotia. Mr. Sears is Chairman of the Ogden Pond Group of Companies, which provides advisory services and management expertise to new ventures. In this role, he serves as Chair of several organizations, including Export Nova Scotia; Cider producer ShipBuilders Cider; Petite Riviere Vineyards; television production company Metamorphia; and software developer SageCrowd. Mr. Sears will be assisted by Mrs. Elizabeth Eustaquio-Domondon in her capacity as Philippine Honorary Vice Consul for Nova Scotia.
Mrs. Leticia La Rosa’s appointment as the first Philippine Honorary Consul on Prince Edward Island (PEI) is in recognition of her stature as an outstanding community leader with a well-established link with the local government and society and involvement in numerous civic projects. Her achievements are capped by numerous international, federal and local awards and citations she has garnered over the years as a leader in the promotion of Filipino culture, tourism and labor and among the foremost proponents of race relations and harmony in PEI. In June 2012, she was a recipient of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal awarded by The Honorable Governor General David Johnston.
