05 September 2013 – The Philippine Embassy in Ankara conducted a consular outreach mission and assistance-to-nationals consultations for Filipinos in Istanbul on August 18 at Cengelkoy Lisesi, Cengelkoy, Istanbul. The conduct of consular services was upon the invitation of the Istanbul Filipino Community Association coinciding with their Annual Sportsfest which commenced on 14 July 2013 and ended on 18 August 2013.
The Embassy team processed 28 passport applications and responded to queries concerning passport, employees contract and Philippine Overseas Employment Administration regulations from the Filipinos present during the event. The Embassy has been conducting monthly consular mobile services in Istanbul, which is 453 kilometers from Ankara, to meet the consular needs of our kababayans.
The Embassy team was composed of Chargé d’ Affaires, a.i. (CDA) Senen to Mangalile, Consul Leilani S. Feliciano, Ms. Eunice P. Trinidad, Ms. Rowena F. Neri and Mr. Renie G. Santa Agata.
After the consular mission, CDA Mangalile joined the closing ceremony of the Sportsfest to award the trophies and medals for the winning teams in the basketball and volleyball tournaments.
The Istanbul Filipino Community Association, led by Ms. Carmen Martin, expressed its gratitude to the Philippine Government through the Embassy for rendering this outreach program. Ms. Martin added that the Filipino community has seen a marked improvement in the delivery of services to those who live and work in Istanbul and has brought the Embassy nearer to our kababayans. END
