17 September 2013 - The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago successfully conducted a consular outreach mission in Southfield, Michigan last September 14.
The consular outreach team was composed of Vice Consul Ricarte Abejuela III, Mr. Silverio Manguerra, Mr. Danilo Cabanayan, Ms. Maria Rosenia Centeno, Ms. Christina Aquino and Ms. Maria Victoria Rivera.
The outreach was conducted in the Philippine American Community Center Michigan (PACCM) at 17356 Northland Park Court, Southfield, Michigan.
The team was able to process a total of 220 passport applications, 70 citizenship reacquisition petitions, 24 documents, 20 reports of marriage and 10 reports of birth. The team was assisted by volunteers from PACCM in the one-day activity.
The Filipinos who went to the activity extended their thanks to the Consulate for conducting the outreach, stating that it saved them time and money. They also mentioned that it was a big help especially to the older Filipino applicants who would find it very difficult to travel all the way to Chicago.
There are about 30,000 Filipinos living in Michigan.
The outreach activity started at 8:00 a.m. and ended at 7:30 p.m. END
