21 December 2015 - The Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles participated in the 13th Annual Simbang Gabi and the Parade of Parols (Lanterns) marking the start of the nine-day novena mass before Christmas, held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angeles located in downtown Los Angeles on December 15.
Most Reverend José H. Gomez, Archbishop of Los Angeles, led the Eucharistic celebration with the auxiliary bishops and clerics of Los Angeles. Bishop Oscar Solis, the only Filipino Bishop in the Archdiocese, rendered the homily. This year’s event was held under the auspices of Filipino Ministry of San Fernando Region in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, with the theme “Jesus Our Savior, Empower Our Families to be Better Stewards of Your Creation.”
The Philippine Consulate General joined the different parish ministries, Catholic associations, and civic and non-governmental organizations in the Parade of Parols that heralded the Eucharistic celebration. END
