23 September 2013 - The officials of the University of Warsaw (UW) opened its doors for cooperation and partnerships with the Philippine Embassy in Warsaw and with Philippine educational insitutions during a lunch-meeting last September 10.

Possible projects on how to raise the Philippines’ profile among the university’s students; the promotion of the UW as a university of choice for Filipino students wanting to pursue higher education; the exchange of academics, researchers, and scientists; as well as the reciprocal accreditation of subjects and courses were among the topics discussed during the meeting.

At present, the UW has tie-ups with only two Philippine universities, namely the Ateneo de Manila University and Silliman University. Twelve Filipino students have studied in the UW in the past three years as part of the Erasmus Mundis program.

The UW officials were Rector and Prof. Marcin Jakub Palys, Vice Rector and Prof. Alojzy Nowak, and UW’s Head of International Relations Ms. Sylvia Salamon.

The Philippine group was composed of Ambassador Patricia Ann V. Paez, Vice Consul Cecille Lao, Mrs. Conch Yao and Mrs. Che-che Farrales. Mr. Waldek Miksa, an alumnus of UW was also invited to the lunch-meeting.

The UW is Poland’s largest university and is among the top 100 European universities. UW offers courses in 37 major fields and over 100 specializations in the Humanities, Earth, Social, and Natural Sciences. END
