SUICIDE BOMBINGS
13 May 2018 - The Philippines today expressed its sympathies to Indonesia even as it condemned the suicide bomb attacks in at least three churches in Surabaya that left at least eight people dead and dozens more wounded.
“We join the people of Indonesia in mourning those who lost their lives in the terrorist bombings of several churches in Surabaya this morning,” Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano said in a statement from Bahrain.
“The Philippines strongly condemns these criminal acts that were carried out against innocent churchgoers,” Secretary Cayetano said.
Reports said the attacks, which were carried out at around 7 a.m. in Indonesia’s second largest city, wounded at least 38 others.
Police said the suicide bombers targeted at least three churches. A fourth attack was foiled. END
