Statement: On the Arrival of Second Batch of Repatriates from Dubai
25 August 2018 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) will welcome on Sunday the second batch of overseas Filipino workers who availed themselves of the amnesty program of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
A total of 117 Filipinos from Dubai and the Northern Emirates are scheduled to arrive in Manila at 8:45 a.m. on board Philippine Airlines Flight 659. The repatriates will be accompanied by Vice Consul Elizabeth Picar Ramos of the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai.
The DFA shouldered the exit fees, penalties, and plane tickets of the returning workers and will provide them with P5,000.00 cash assistance upon arrival.
The latest batch brings to 217 the number of Filipinos repatriated from Dubai as part of the amnesty program. The first batch of of 100 repatriates arrived on 16 August 2018.
According to Deputy Consul General Renato Dueñas, Jr. the Consulate General in Dubai and the Embassy in Abu Dhabi continue to encourage qualified Filipinos to take advantage of the amnesty program, which will end on 31 October 2018. END
