Update on Foiled Missile Attack in Najran

06 September 2018 – There are no Filipinos among the 23 persons reported injured by falling fragments from a ballistic missile that was successfully intercepted by Saudi defense forces on Wednesday.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Filipino nurses working at two hospitals in Najran near where debris from the middle fell are all safe.

Consul General Edgar Badajos of the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah said he is in touch with Filipino Community leader Fayes Mailao, who assured him all the 7,850 Filipinos in Najran are safe.

He reminded the Filipinos in Najran and the 30,000 others in the neighboring cities of Jizan, and Khamis-Mushayt to always be vigilant as the southern regional Saudi Arabia is frequently being targeted by ballistic missiles being launched from neighboring Yemen. END
