Update on Financial Assistance to Stranded OFWs
15 September 2018 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has a team now in position at the Clark International Airport in Pampanga to extend financial assistance to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) if their scheduled flights today are cancelled as a result of super typhoon Ompong (Mangkhut).
The DFA will also have teams stationed at Terminals 1, 2, and 3 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. to likewise extend the financial assistance of P5,000.00 to stranded OFWs.
“The President has directed the DFA to prioritize the concerns of our overseas workers and in line with this, we are extending cash assistance of P5,000.00 to those who would be stranded in our airports or seaports while on their way to or from destinations abroad,” Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano said.
Other DFA teams will be deployed at the Mactan International Airport and at the Davao International Airport to assist stranded OFWs. END
