Update No. 3 on Typhoon Mangkhut in Hong Kong

19 September 2018 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) continues to monitor the condition of a Filipina tourist who underwent arm and leg surgeries after being hit by flying debris during the height of Typhoon Mangkhut in Hong Kong.

In his report to Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano, Consul General Antonio Morales said the Philippine Consulate General will continue to extend the necessary assistance to the female victim who was struck by debris during the typhoon. He said Consulate officials have visited the victim in the hospital and have been apprised of her condition.

The Consulate General also remains in touch with her traveling companions.

Consul General Morales said the 32-member tourist delegation that was rescued after getting stranded in a bus that was to bring them to the airport is on its way back to Manila. The Filipino tourists had to be rescued after the windshield of their bus was shattered by strong winds.

Consul General Morales said the Consulate General will continue to monitor the welfare of the 227,000 Filipinos in Hong Kong and coordinate with authorities as necessary. END
