01 October 2018 – Ambassador to Norway Jocelyn Batoon-Garcia was in touch this evening with the mother of murdered Filipina Mailyn Conde Sinambong to extend the condolences of Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano.
Ambassador Garcia assured Mrs. Maria Monato that the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) will exert all efforts to obtain justice for her daughter.
Ambassador Garcia informed Mrs. Monato that Consul General Ma. Elena Algabre is now in Stockholm with her Norway-based cousin, Lugina Eliasen, to make arrangements for the repatriation of Mailyn’s remains; gather more information about the case; and to check on Mailyn’s two sons, aged 10 and 4.
Consul General Algabre is currently at the office of Silvia Ingolfdottir Akermark, the lawyer assigned by the Swedish government to handle the case, to gather more information on the circumstances surrounding Mailyn’s death.
