Update on Crash-Landing of Air Niugini Flight in Micronesia

03 October 2018 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has been informed that three other Filipinos—two males and a female—were also onboard the Air Niugini flight that crash-landed in Micronesia on Friday. This brings to 12 the number of Filipino passengers assisted by the Philippine Consulate General in Agana.

Nine Filipino seafarers on board the aircraft were earlier assisted by the Consulate General.

In a report to Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano, Consul General Marciano C. de Borja said the 12 Filipinos have taken onward flights to the Philippines and have already arrived in the country.

He said the Consulate General is coordinating with the airline for the recovery of the luggage of the 12 Filipinos. He said Air Niugini had also informed the Consulate General that they will be in touch with the Filipinos regarding their claims. END
