On the Cooperation with Bahrain

05 November 2018 — The DFA deeply appreciates Bahrain’s reaffirmation of its commitment to closer ties with the Philippines.

The reassurance was conveyed by H.E. Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa to Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs Sarah Lou Y. Arriola in Manama on Sunday.

Foreign Minister Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa also conveyed Bahrain’s appreciation of the contribution of the more than 60,000 overseas Filipino workers in the Kingdom.

The Foreign Minister told Undersecretary Arriola that Bahrain appreciates its cooperation with the Philippines on migration issues as it demonstrates to the world that a receiving country and a sending country can cooperate to protect migrant rights to their mutual benefit.

The Philippines and Bahrain have been working closely together to protect migrants’ rights under the Global Compact on Migration. END
