Bulletin: On the Blast in Sapporo
17 December 2018 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reports that no Filipinos were among those injured in the explosion in Sapporo, Japan, on Sunday.
According to the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo, police reported no Filipinos among the 42 individuals who were reportedly injured in the blast at a restaurant in Toyohara District in Sapporo.
Ambassador to Japan Jose C. Laurel V reported to the Home Office that authorities are still investigating the cause of the blast, which media reports say may have been caused by a gas leak. Ambassador Laurel also sent a letter to Hokkaido Governor Harumi Takahashi expressing the Embassy’s sympathies to those who were affected by the explosion. END
