Update on the Death of OFW in Riyadh
11 January 2019 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is awaiting the approval of authorities in Saudi Arabia for the repatriation of the remains of the Filipino migrant worker who was stabbed to death by another Filipino early this week.
The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh said authorities are expected to issue the approval upon the conclusion of its investigation of the incident. Authorities are expected to receive today the report of the autopsy conducted on the victim yesterday.
Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Adnan Alonto, at the same time, said the suspect remains in serious but stable condition at the National Guard Hospital in Riyadh where he is being treated for injuries he sustained after jumping from the third floor of the apartment building he and the victim were staying in.
Ambassador Alonto also urged members of the Filipino Community in Saudi Arabia to refrain from passing on speculative and unverified information about the incident. END
