Bulletin: On the Situation in Nairobi
15 January 2019 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is monitoring the situation in Nairobi after gunfire and explosions were heard at an upscale hotel complex there.
The Philippine Embassy in Nairobi has advised the more than 400 Filipinos in the Kenyan capital to remain indoors and to avoid the Westland’s neighborhood where the DusitD2 hotel and office park are located.
Ambassador to Kenya Norman Garibay said initial reports indicated five fatalities in what is suspected to be a terror attack that took place just three kilometers from the Embassy. He said all Embassy personnel are on lockdown. END
