Bulletin: On the Mass Protests in Hong Kong

12 June 2019 — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) asks Filipinos in Hong Kong to exercise extreme caution and vigilance in light of mass protests in the area.

The Philipine Consulate General in Hong Kong released an advisory, asking Filipinos there to keep away from demonstration areas which are generally concentrated outside the government central offices, particularly the Legislative Complex, in Admiralty and in Tamar Park.

The Consulate General further advises the consular public that unless their need is absolutely immediate, they should consider rescheduling their consular transactions at the Consulate General which is located very near the demonstration areas and requests the Filipino community to keep themselves updated with the security situation in Hong Kong as of this time through media reports.

According to Consul General to Hong Kong Antonio A. Morales, the Consulate General continues to monitor the situation and will provide public advisories from time to time as necessary. It also stands ready to provide assistance if needed. END
