Bulletin: On the Repatriation of 11 Filipinos from Libya

23 June 2019 — Eleven more Filipinos from Tripoli are arriving from Libya tonight, bringing to 84 the total number of those who have been repatriated since April. The 11 belong to the seventh batch of Filipinos who were assisted by the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Labor and Employment through the Philippine Embassy in Tripoli.

The Embassy, at the same time, reiterated its advise to the more than 1,000 Filipinos in Tripoli to remain vigilant and to take the necessary precautions as fighting continues to intensify just outside the capital. Chargé d’Affaires Elmer G. Cato said Filipinos should immediately move to safer places if the fighting gets near their residences or work places. He said the Embassy is ready to assist Filipinos who may be displaced by the fighting that has been raging in the southern outskirts of the capital since April and which has already claimed close to 700 lives.
