On the Situation in the Kurdistan Region

19 July 2019 – The Department of the Foreign Affairs, through the Philippine Embassy in Baghdad, is monitoring developments on the situation in the Kurdistan Region in Iraq after a Turkish diplomat and two other diplomatic staff were reportedly killed at a restaurant in Erbil on 17 July 2019. In view of the incident, the Embassy is asking members of the Filipino community in the region, as well as those traveling there, to keep a vigilant watch on potential threats to their security, keep a low profile, and avoid participating in public demonstrations.
