On 3 Filipino Casualties in Palau Accident

03 October 2019 — The Philippine Consulate General in Agana, which has jurisdiction over Palau Islands, reported that three Filipinos figured in an accident involving a flatbed truck that lost control and fell into the sea in Palau on 29 September 2019. Two died and the other one survived.

Consul General to Agana Marciano R. de Borja reported that the Consulate General is working closely with Palau authorities to effect the immediate shipment of the remains of the victims as well as to obtain additional details on the accident amid ongoing investigation. Based on initial investigation, Palau authorities do not believe there was foul play involved during the accident.

The Filipinos’ employers have agreed to shoulder the cost of shipping the remains back to Manila. The Consulate also stands ready to provide assistance to the survivor as needed. The Department of Foreign Affairs extends its condolences to the families of the victims. END
