09 July 2015 – Due to the recent developments in Greece, the Philippine Embassy in Athens is advising the Filipino community in Greece and all Filipinos who wish to travel to Greece to closely monitor the news.

While it is still safe for tourists to travel to Greece, Filipino travelers are informed that strikes and demonstrations may occur mostly in the center of Athens, especially in Syntagma Square and in front of the Parliament Building. Filipinos are advised to refrain from being within the vicinity of these gatherings.

Due to imposed capital controls and the closure of banks, travelers are advised to have enough cash to cover their stay in Greece and also for emergencies and unexpected expenses.

For emergency situations after office hours, please contact the Philippine Embassy’s duty officer at mobile no. (0030) 697-4319-539.

Thank you.
