The abovementioned names are allowed to take the Oral Test scheduled in November 2018.

The examinees are requested to submit eleven (11) sets of the filled out Curriculum Vitae Form (8.5” x 13” or legal size paper) and Medical Certificate on or before 06 November 2018.  The forms can be downloaded in the DFA website (http://dfa.gov.ph/index.php/download).

Other examinees who did not pass the Psychological Test can retake the FSO Examinations only after a period of two (2) years from their last FSOE-Psychological Test.

2018 Foreign Service Officer (FSO) Examinations

26 October 2017 - The Board of Foreign Service Examinations announces the holding of the 2018 Foreign Service Officer (FSO) Examinations to recruit candidates for appointment to the position of Foreign Service Officer, Class IV.

From 16 October until 01 December 2017, interested applicants shall submit in person their duly accomplished application forms and documentary requirements at any Regional Consular Office or at Philippine Embassies or Consulates abroad, or not later than 5:00 p.m. on 08 December 2017 at the Board of Foreign Service Examinations (BFSE) Secretariat, Second Floor, DFA Main Building, 2330 Roxas Blvd., Pasay City.

The Qualifying Test shall be held on 28 January 2018 at designated testing centers all over the country. The schedule for subsequent tests shall be announced accordingly.

The FSO Examinations are designed to evaluate the applicants’ knowledge on Philippine economic, political, and social conditions; facility in oral and written communications; and ability to perform the duties of a Foreign Service Officer. The exams comprise five parts, namely the Qualifying Test, Preliminary Interview, Written Test, Psychological Test, and Oral Test.

Foreign Service Officers are in charge of promoting and protecting the interests of the Philippines and the Filipino people, at home and at 85 posts overseas. The duties of a FSO IV include: drafting reports, correspondences, position papers, talking points, legal opinions or agreements; attending local and international meetings and conferences; coordinating with government agencies and diplomatic missions on matters pertaining to the mandate of his/her Division; handling assistance-to-nationals cases; and supervision of staff at the Home Office and at Posts.
