PASAY CITY 07 March 2019 — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) officially kicked off its celebration of National Women’s Month with a speech delivered by Office of the Undersecretary for Administration Officer-In-Charge and Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System Executive Committee Chairperson Ma. Theresa B. Dizon-De Vega during the DFA’s Monday flag-raising ceremony on 04 March 2019.

In her speech, Officer-in-Charge Dizon-De Vega recognized all the women in the DFA for their crucial role in society and nation-building, and how this year’s celebration was made more special by the recent passage of Republic Act No. 11210 or the 105-Day Expanded Maternity Leave Law and the tenth anniversary of the enactment of Republic Act No. 9710 or the Magna Carta of Women.

The Officer-in-Charge also announced the Department’s adoption of its own GAD Agenda for 2019-2022 last December 2019.

The GAD Agenda 2019-2022 is the product of the joint efforts of all the GAD Focal Point Officers at the DFA Home Office and Consular Officers in the Philippines, and Philippine Embassies, Consulates General and Permanent Missions around the world who took part in the Department’s first-ever GAD Assembly in November 2018.
