PH Embassy in Dili Joins International Women’s Day Celebration

Dili Womens Month 1

DILI 12 March 2019 — The Philippine Embassy in Dili joined other foreign embassies, various international organizations, and the Timorese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation in commemorating International Women’s Day in the Municipality of Liquiça on 07 March 2019.

The chief event organizer, the Timorese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, invited members of the diplomatic corps, international organizations, and local women entrepreneurs to set up booths featuring typical food and beverage products from participating countries, which were shared for free to the locals.

Complementing the festive atmosphere of the bazaar was a cultural program, featuring musical and dance performance by participating countries.

The Philippines was represented during the program by Paul Carlochito de Loyola, a Filipino teacher from Saint Anthony’s International School of Dili, who delivered a stirring rendition of the famous Jose Mari Chan song, “Beautiful Girl.”

The program was opened by Timorese State Secretary for Equality and Inclusion Maria Jose da Fonseca M. de Jesus Bessa. Timorese Foreign Minister Dionisio Babo Soares also graced the event. END
