PH Embassy in Port Moresby Celebrates Int’l Women’s Day

PORT MORESBY 18 March 2019 – The Philippine Embassy in Port Moresby joined in the celebration of the International Women’s Day, hosted by the Papua New Guinea’s Department of Foreign Affairs (PNG-DFA), at the Central Government Office, Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea on 08 March 2019.
According to the PNG-DFA, this is the first time that the Department celebrated and hosted the event, and invited women in the diplomatic corps, international organizations, government and private sectors to join in the observance of the International Women’s Day. The Embassy’s Administrative Officer Ma. Cecilia Pilar A. Caparas attended the event.
With theme “#BalanceforBetter,” the event was graced by guest speaker Dr. Orovu Sepoe, a known woman leader in the country and Gender and Social Inclusion Citizenship Participation Advise, who discussed the importance of women in the society.
Also in attendance were diplomats from the Embassies of the United States, Malaysia, and Indonesia, the Australian High Commission, other attendees from the international organizations and staff from the PNG-DFA.
The event also coincided with the formal launching of the Network of Women Diplomats in Papua New Guinea. END
