TOKYO 09 December 2019 — The Philippine Embassy in Tokyo conducted a seminar-workshop for its personnel on anti-sexual harassment and the Safe Spaces Act Law on 25 November to 12 December 2019, with the theme “VAW-free community starts with Me.”
The Embassy participated in the 18-day campaign to end violence against women (VAW). Embassy personnel gained a better understanding of what is sexual harassment and the legal avenues to ensure that the rights of persons, regardless of gender, age or rank, are respected.
Philippine Ambassador to Japan Jose C. Laurel V remarked that “sexual harassment is an important issue as it affects the person’s well-being and his or her active participation in the workplace or the community.” He further stated, “I hope that this training helped our personnel become more sensitive to the needs and rights of their colleagues and clients.” END
