TACLOBAN CITY 13 December 2019 — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Consular Office (CO) in Tacloban joined the whole nation in leading the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women and their Children on 25 November 2019 at the CO’s premises.
Led by AGFPOs Roxanne P. Blones and Dianne Leslie L. Sulit, the CO opened the celebration with a brief introduction on the significance of the celebration, its legal bases, and the reiteration of DFA’s commitment to promote awareness on the forms of violence women and girls experience.
The campaign commenced with CO staff, personnel, and clients singing along the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) all-female version of the National Anthem. The flag ceremony was immediately followed by delivering the message of President Rodrigo Duterte and a short question and answer type of game intended to measure the clients/audience level of awareness about the campaign to end violence against women and their children
To maximize dissemination, the office reprinted IEC materials, shared video presentations on the Magna Carta of Women and gender and development (GAD), and distribution of round fans and button pins with the printed theme “VAW Free Community Starts with Me” at the consular area.
The program ended with the women clients’ recital of oath on the contribution of Women headed by Ms. Sulit and men clients headed by Mr. Bulic for a VAW Free Philippines. END
